Livestock raising is an integral part of agroecology. The MPP makes a point, though, of having a team to train farmers in animal treatment and feeding.

The team trains vets who live and work in communities. It also offers technical assistance in cases of animal sickness that are beyond the capacities of local animal workers.

The MPP encourages an integrated, agroecological approach to raising animals where agricultural waste and vegetable produce feed the animals, and animal waste fertilises the soils for crops naturally.

We work with small-holders whose farmland is very restricted. We encourage them to raise chickens using improved traditional methods, goats, pigs, bees and fish. However, some families choose to raise cows for milk and beef.
