MPP Youth
In order to prepare the future of the movement, MPP set it as one of its priorities to work with the youth. It works on organizing the youth from elementary school to college. The youth movement, as the women’s, has its own structure inside the organization and counts today 10,000 members.
MPP is hosting Food Sovereignty and Environment Camp where 600 youths will gather at the MPP Training Center from August 15th to August 20th. Most of the youth are coming from ten provinces in Haiti. The remaining youth will travel from the US, Dominican Republic, Brazil, and various other nations. During the camp participants will attend training to where they learn better techniques on how to grow vegetables including compost production and making natural insecticide. Educational sessions will be held on youth rights (human rights, educational rights, legal rights, etc), global warming, sustainable agriculture, and environment protection. In addition, youth will be learning about how to prevent the transmission of STD (sexually transmitted disease).
The camp exercise will include the following:
Producing gardens within old tires
• Creating a fertile soil mix
• Creating natural compost
• Produce natural pesticide
• Plowing flowerbed
• Planting trees
